H.R. No. 1347


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Public Policy Internship Program was established in 1999 in response to an increasing interest in participation in public policy issues, and the program works to develop future leaders by offering Texas A&M students hands-on work experience; and WHEREAS, Participants are accepted into this program based on their academic achievements, as well as their initiative, and are afforded the opportunity to intern in either Washington, D.C., or Austin; and WHEREAS, Currently interning at the State Capitol are James Alaniz, Steven Correa, Jon Denbar, Pamela Dixon, Martin Hunt, Stephanie Lyles, Mary O'Hearn, Claudia Madrigal, Tiana Sanford, David Shoemaker, Harrison Tucker, and Ashley Wiser; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of program director Manda Rosser, these dynamic young Texans are serving in the Capitol offices of state representatives and senators, and with the Senate Committee for Transportation and Homeland Security, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and the Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education; and WHEREAS, During their tenure, interns garner valuable knowledge of the legislative process and the issues facing the citizens of the Lone Star State, while at the same time providing important support services to the members and committees, and it is a pleasure to recognize the contributions of these 12 outstanding students during the 79th Legislature; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Texas A&M Public Policy Internship Program participants for their exceptional work throughout the session and extend to them sincere best wishes for success with all their future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the interns as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
