R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, After more than three decades of admirable service, Assistant Chief of Police Enrique Gonzales retired from the Weslaco Police Department on March 31, 2005; and WHEREAS, Since joining the department, this outstanding public servant has brought honor to the force throughout his service as a patrolman, undercover officer, investigator, and head of the CID division; his dedication and professionalism ultimately earned him the rank of assistant chief of police, a post he has held since 1991; and WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Assistant Chief Gonzales served his country with distinction in Vietnam; in retirement, he looks forward to continuing a family tradition of raising cattle; and WHEREAS, Henry Gonzales is an exemplary lawman whose integrity and devotion to duty have earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike; while his leadership will be missed, he leaves behind a lasting legacy of achievement for those who will follow in his footsteps; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Enrique Gonzales for his remarkable career with the Weslaco Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Gonzales as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
