H.R. No. 1356
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, L. C. Richards of Rockdale was named the 10,000th
Professional Miner by the U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety
and Health Administration (MSHA) and the Joseph A. Holmes Safety
Association; and
WHEREAS, The Professional Miner program recognizes those who
have worked a number of years without experiencing a lost-time
injury on the job; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Richards was a dragline operator
at Alcoa's Sandow surface coal mine in Rockdale, and though he
recently retired, he is still actively involved in the mining
industry; he was honored for his 44-year career and for setting an
example of safety and efficiency for the industry; and
WHEREAS, Truly an inspiration to miners across the state, L.
C. Richards is a role model whose record promotes workplace safety
and smart practices, and it is a pleasure to join the MSHA and the
Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association in honoring him; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate L. C. Richards on being named the
10,000th Professional Miner and extend to him sincere best wishes
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Richards as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
