R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of many joyful times and meaningful
accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of Ronald Lee
Kellett, who passed away on September 1, 2004, at the age of 63; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 9, 1940, in La Marque, Mr. Kellett
earned a degree in accounting from Lamar University and practiced
public accounting in San Antonio until 1972, when he moved to
Kingsville to accept a position with the King Ranch; while a
resident of Kingsville, he served as chair of the area economic
development foundation and the Spohn-Kelberg Memorial Hospital
Educational Foundation, and as co-chair of Spohn-Kelberg Memorial
Hospital; he was awarded the Outstanding Citizen Award for his
service to the community; and
WHEREAS, After spending eight years in Harlingen, where he
continued his civic involvement, Mr. Kellett and his beloved wife,
Sharon, moved to Rockport, which they had visited numerous times
for duck hunting and fishing; while in Rockport, he became chair of
the finance and fund-raising committee of the Aransas County
Republican Party and a member of the board of directors of the
Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce; his lifetime
achievements also included a gubernatorial appointment to serve his
fellow Texans on the state banking commission; and
WHEREAS, Ron Kellett was a treasured citizen who made
numerous contributions to the betterment of his community and state
through his public service, and he will be dearly missed by all
those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ronald Lee Kellett and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of
39 years, Sharon C. Kellett; to his daughter, Rhonda L. Peterson and
her husband, Daniel; to his grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley
Peterson; to his brother, Cliff Kellett, Jr.; and to his other
relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ron
Kellett.
