R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may temper the profound sadness that the passing of Frank "Topi" Rodriguez of Fabens on August 30, 2004, has brought to all who loved him; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his lifetime, Mr. Rodriguez contributed a significant amount of his time and energy in behalf of his hometown of Fabens, including serving as sergeant of a "home guard" during World War II; during the 47 years he was employed with the railroad, he was also involved with a variety of civic endeavors, and for 40 years he provided notary public services for his fellow Texans; and WHEREAS, Combining a love of baseball with volunteering, Mr. Rodriguez managed a championship Little League team that made it to regionals, and later he assisted the merchants baseball team as scorekeeper and announcer; and WHEREAS, A longtime clerk and Democratic precinct judge, he served the LULAC Council No. 265 as president, taught English for local citizenship classes, and took on many tasks as a congregant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Topi Rodriguez was a treasured member of the Fabens community, and he will long be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have shared his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and accomplishments of Frank "Topi" Rodriguez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children, Natalia Villalobos and her husband Alex, Ernesine Amaya, Manuela Enriquez and her husband Mike, Monica Chavez, and Frank Rodriguez, Jr.; to his 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; to his sisters, Consuelo Ramirez and Guadalupe Martinez; and to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank Rodriguez.
