R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, William T. Solomon of Dallas has been chosen to receive the 76th Annual Linz Award, and he is most worthy of special recognition not only for this notable honor but also for his many years of impressive community service; and WHEREAS, The Linz Award is presented each year to an individual whose civic or humanitarian efforts over the last decade have greatly benefitted the Dallas community; and WHEREAS, Chairman of Austin Industries, Mr. Solomon is a cofounder of the Dallas Together Forum, a group of 30 business leaders dedicated to advancing racial harmony and understanding in the community; the organization has helped to encourage constructive dialogue and has built financial opportunities for minorities, whose participation in the local economy has increased over the years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon has also worked hard to improve the public school system, transportation, and the vitality of downtown Dallas as chairman of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and has been an important supporter of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center's campaign to fund clinical research and other vital improvements; and WHEREAS, This remarkable gentleman has expressed his dedication to the welfare of others in truly lasting and meaningful ways, and his efforts have greatly benefitted the citizens of Dallas and the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate William T. Solomon on his receipt of the 76th Annual Linz Award and commend him for his contributions to the residents of North Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Solomon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
