R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, U.S. Army First Sergeant Leonel Garcia, Jr., of
Mercedes, who has served his country with distinction in Iraq, is a
source of great pride to all who know him; and
WHEREAS, A member of Delta Company, 4th Battalion, 5th Air
Defense, 1st Cavalry Division, Sergeant Garcia was stationed in
Taji, outside of Baghdad; throughout his time overseas, he
demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his mission in air defense
artillery and while facing grave danger as a convoy escort; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Garcia joined the U.S. Army nearly two
decades ago, and since that time he has served our nation's military
with great courage and dedication; this loving husband, father, and
son has been supported in all of his endeavors by his wife, Yolanda,
his daughters, Danielle and Brittany, and his mother, Ofelia; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to
Sergeant Garcia and to all of the country's military personnel, for
they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and
they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure; and
WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and
this nation, Leonel Garcia, Jr., embodies the highest ideals of the
U.S. armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to join in welcoming
him home; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Leonel Garcia, Jr., for his exemplary
commitment to his family, his community, and his nation, and that he
be extended heartfelt best wishes for success and happiness in the
coming years; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Sergeant Garcia as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
