R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of Girl Scout Troop 3540 are visiting the State Capitol on May 2, 2005, and the occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group of young Texans; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouts of America seeks to give its participants learning experiences that promote the development of strong leadership skills and civic responsibility, and young women who are influenced by scouting will one day be managing corporations, leading the country, and raising tomorrow's children; and WHEREAS, Troop 3540, which has been together for five years, is a junior and cadet group composed of girls from the Fort Worth, Kennedale, Mansfield, and Arlington Independent School Districts and Hill Private School; and WHEREAS, Ably led by Theresa Miskin, Kendra Smith, Sondra Harrel, Valerie Ortiz, and Natallie Allen, members of the troop include Meghan Miskin, Colleen Smith, Michelle Harrel, Celina Ortiz, Hannah Allen, Samantha Rhoades, Meghan Farris, Allison Lee, Chelsea Cole, and Amanda Valverde; and WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas, and this visit provides troop members a wonderful opportunity to learn about and gain special insight into the workings of our state government; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby welcome the members of Girl Scout Troop 3540 on their visit to the State Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for future success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
