R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with many joyful times and meaningful accomplishments may help to comfort the family and friends of Jose Maria Zambrano of El Paso, who passed away on April 2, 2005, at the age of 80; and WHEREAS, Born in San Elizario on May 28, 1924, Mr. Zambrano answered his country's call to arms as a young man during World War II and received a Purple Heart for his meritorious service in the Pacific theater as a member of the U.S. Army; and WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he embarked on a career path that would see this self-made man retire from K-B Axle 45 years later in the post of executive sales manager of the company; and WHEREAS, A founding member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Burbank, California, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mr. Zambrano continued his community involvement following his return to Texas with his wife, Soledad, in retirement; remaining active in his service to the church, he was an usher at St. Stephen's Church, and he was also a founding member of the San Elizario Genealogy Society; and WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Jose Zambrano was a devoted family man and friend whose caring ways benefited not only his loved ones but also the wider community, and he will long be missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jose Maria Zambrano and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 25 years, Soledad Zambrano; to his children, Diana Potter, Catherine Glidden, Jo Marie Sanchez, Michael Zambrano, Gena Bray, and Anita Zambrano; to his grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Potter, Steven, Kevin, and Patricia Zambrano, Raymond Sanchez, and Lorena Glidden; to his sister, Elvera Manning; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jose Maria Zambrano.
