R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 15 years, Houston Style Magazine has been a
popular entertainment and cultural information source for young
professionals in the Bayou City, and a "Thirty Under 30"
invitational mixer is being held on May 18, 2005, to celebrate the
publication's anniversary; and
WHEREAS, With a circulation of nearly 50,000, the urban
weekly focuses on issues, trends, and events of interest to area
readers between the ages of 18 and 39; the magazine also salutes
local professionals' achievements and contributions to the
community; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of its 15th year of publication,
Houston Style Magazine is honoring 30 of the city's brightest young
leaders under the age of 30; although these young Texans come from
diverse backgrounds, they share a common desire to work hard,
excel, and effect real change where it is most needed; the Thirty
Under 30 mixer will provide an opportunity to introduce these
accomplished young Houstonians to scholars, entrepreneurs,
executives, and other professionals in order to forge lasting
social and intellectual connections between the generations; and
WHEREAS, The vibrancy of our cities is dependent on the
vitality and enthusiasm of our young people, and the anniversary
party for Houston Style Magazine offers an apt opportunity to
recognize the future leaders of the Houston area; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Houston Style Magazine on its 15th
anniversary and extend to all those associated with the Thirty
Under 30 invitational mixer best wishes for an enjoyable and
rewarding event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the magazine as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
