R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Bill Barry of El Paso has achieved an admirable
level of excellence in the sport of running, and his
accomplishments deserve special commendation; and
WHEREAS, This athletic 63-year-old, who began running at the
age of 39, has competed in 95 marathons and earned scores of
trophies; he is currently the director for the Las Palmas/Del Sol
half-marathon and 5K run, an event that raises money for the United
Way of El Paso County; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Half-Fast Track Club, Mr. Barry
shows no signs of slowing down as he plans to complete five more
marathons in the near future; his exceptional athleticism and
dedication to his goals make him a role model for other runners and
a source of tremendous pride to his El Paso community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Bill Barry for his achievements in the
sport of running and extend to him best wishes for the future; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Barry as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
