H.R. No. 1443
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who act quickly and appropriately in
emergencies are truly deserving of our admiration and gratitude,
and Selena Renee Solis of El Paso is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, This resourceful five-year-old's courage became
apparent when her mother suffered a seizure and lost consciousness
while driving Selena and her two-week-old brother on Transmountain
Road; and
WHEREAS, Bereft of a driver, the car veered off the road,
jumping the curb and crashing through two yards before colliding
with a rock wall; and
WHEREAS, Realizing that her only escape from the car was
through the window, Selena crawled to safety and ran to a nearby
home to get help, and her rapid response ensured that her mother and
brother received immediate medical attention, averting a terrible
tragedy that could have claimed both of their lives; and
WHEREAS, In acting as she did, Selena Solis distinguished
herself as a remarkable member of the community and earned
recognition from the El Paso Area Chapter of the American Red Cross;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Selena Renee Solis for her heroism and
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Selena Solis as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
