H.R. No. 1463
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, United States Army Specialist Juan Manuel Arevalo,
who served his country with distinction in Operation Iraqi Freedom,
is a source of great pride to all who know him; and
WHEREAS, A member of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 325th
Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Specialist
Arevalo demonstrated tremendous valor while serving as a
paratrooper in Iraq; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Monte Alto by his mother, Gloria Arevalo,
who worked hard to provide the best opportunities for her family,
Specialist Arevalo learned at an early age the value of hard work
and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, This courageous young man enlisted in the army after
graduating from the South Texas High School for Health Professions,
a magnet school located in Mercedes; during his military service he
has earned one of the highest skills test scores and succeeded in
passing the rigorous qualifications for admission to the venerable
United States Military Academy at West Point; after completing his
studies at this prestigious institution, he plans to serve in the
army infantry; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to
Specialist Arevalo and to all of the country's military personnel,
for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens,
and they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure;
and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized
Specialist Arevalo by authoring this resolution in his behalf
during the Regular Session of the 79th Legislature; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor United States Army Specialist Juan Manuel
Arevalo for his unwavering service to his country and extend to him
sincere praise for his many achievements; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Specialist Arevalo as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
