R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas A&M--Commerce Lady Lions soccer team
captured the 2004 Lone Star Conference (LSC) tournament
championship, marking a significant accomplishment for this
dedicated team of talented student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Lions, led by LSC tournament MVP Melissa
Arnold, defeated West Texas A&M by the score of 2-1 in double
overtime to claim the coveted conference title and earn a berth in
the NCAA Division II tournament for the third time in the past six
seasons; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of head coach Neil Piper and
assistant coach Garry Lay, the Lady Lions posted a 15-7-1 season
record and garnered multiple individual post-season honors;
midfielder Tiffany Adams was named first-team All-American and
joined forward Erin de Wolfe on the All-LSC first team; and
WHEREAS, The remaining members of the Lady Lions include Andi
Bearden, Amber Ramoz, Stacey McDaniel, Cory Copeland, Kensley
Apetz, Laura Platz, Lanna King, Michelle Alvarado, Tamara Geels,
Tia Rew, Heather Stewart, Andrea Price, Bailey Geels, Emily
Olivier, Brittany Watters, Kaylee Little, Jessica Bradley, Emily
Brueggemann, Kim Burrescia, and Amanda McDonald; and
WHEREAS, These impressive young athletes demonstrated hard
work and commitment to excellence throughout this year's athletic
campaign, earning the respect and admiration of their many
supporters in the community, and their outstanding season indeed
merits special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Neil Piper and the Texas
A&M--Commerce Lady Lions soccer team for winning the 2004 Lone Star
Conference tournament championship and extend to them best wishes
for continued success both on and off the field; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
