R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times, loving
moments, and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the loved ones
of Barbara Contreras, who died on April 20, 2004, at the age of 85;
and
WHEREAS, The heart of a cherished extended family, Mrs.
Contreras enjoyed the love and affection of a sister and six
brothers while growing up; she started her own family with her
adored husband, Eugenio Contreras, and with him was richly blessed
with seven children, 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and
four great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Contreras was a longtime resident of Fabens and
a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; she made lasting
contributions to the lives of many and she is deeply missed; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Barbara Contreras and
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
husband, Eugenio Contreras; to her children, Mary Ann Lopez, Emilio
Telas, Romelia Wiseman, Barbara Telas, Gene Contreras, Ida Mendez,
and Joe Contreras; to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren; to her brother, Cruz Guerra; and to all
who mourn the passing of this beloved woman; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
Contreras.
