R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of W. C. "Wib" Walker of Austin on
January 15, 2005, at the age of 79, brought a great loss to the
family and friends of this esteemed Texan; and
WHEREAS, Born in Lamesa on August 2, 1925, Mr. Walker grew up
in Hamlin and proudly served this nation in the U.S. Navy as a
Seaman First Class during World War II; his tour of duty in the
Pacific theater included stints aboard the SS Daniel G. Reid, the SS
Buena Vista Hills, and the SS Clarence King; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was employed by Exxon for 23 years before
launching his own trucking company, which he operated for 15 years
until his retirement; he enjoyed collecting and rebuilding pocket
knives and was a frequent attendee at area gun and knife shows; and
WHEREAS, A lover of people and music, Wib Walker made many
friends with his dry sense of humor and his quick wit, and he will
long be remembered with great affection by all who were privileged
to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of W. C. "Wib" Walker and
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
Helen Gladys Walker; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and
Aleta Walker and Barry and Sherri Walker; to his grandchildren,
Jenna, Lindsey, and Stetson Walker; and to his other relatives and
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of W. C. "Wib"
Walker.
