H.R. No. 1494
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nikhil Koganti is both a great lover of language and
a formidable competitor who won top honors in the 47th annual The
Dallas Morning News Regional Spelling Bee; and
WHEREAS, Having outspelled 32 of his fellow word wizards to
triumph on the word "glissade," Mr. Koganti will go on to serve as
the North Texas area's able representative in the Scripps National
Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, His victory was in part attributable to many hours
of diligent study, and he estimates that 3,000 words came under his
scrutiny during his preparation for the bee; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Koganti, an eighth-grade student at Rice Middle
School in Plano, also benefited from the encouragement and support
of his parents, Nagesh and Nalini Koganti, who take justifiable
pride in their son's impressive achievement; and
WHEREAS, In securing his stature among the state's top
spellers, Mr. Koganti has demonstrated considerable talent,
diligence, and initiative, and he is indeed deserving of special
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Nikhil Koganti on winning the 47th
annual The Dallas Morning News Regional Spelling Bee and extend to
him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Koganti as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
