H.R. No. 1506


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Major Scott Galliardt of Boerne has served his country with distinction in the Texas Air National Guard, and his efforts at home and abroad have earned him the respect and admiration of all who know him; and WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Air National Guard's 149th Medical Group, this courageous soldier was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on December 16, 2004, to fly with a Critical Care Air Transport Team out of Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany; and WHEREAS, Major Galliardt routinely flew with his team into Iraq, caring for the wounded as they were transported from the battlefield; and WHEREAS, During his service overseas, Major Galliardt became involved with a project at Kiker Elementary School in Austin to collect DVDs and supplies for wounded soldiers; he helped to boost the morale of his fellow servicemen and servicewomen, decorating medical transport vehicles with drawings made by the young students, and delivered the donated items to military hospitals in Iraq to be used by patients and medical staff; and WHEREAS, Major Galliardt is equally committed to serving others in his civilian life; he has lent his time and talents to the neighborhood association board, to children's athletic teams as a coach, and to Saint Peter's Catholic Church, where he has been a religious education teacher and Eucharistic minister; and WHEREAS, A registered nurse and former member of the U.S. Navy, Major Galliardt has earned both bachelor's and master's degrees and currently works as director of nursing for Select Specialty Hospital in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support of his close-knit family, including his wife, Jennifer, and his three children, Emily, Timmy, and Nicholas; and WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and his country, Scott Galliardt embodies the highest ideals of the armed services, and it is a privilege to honor this esteemed Texan at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Major Scott Galliardt for his exceptional service in behalf of his country and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Major Galliardt as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
