R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A century of living a productive and satisfying life is truly a reason for celebration, and Winona McQuaid of Hawkins recently observed this significant milestone in the company of her delighted family and friends at a party at the family life center of First Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, "Pal," as she is affectionately known by family and friends, was born on January 13, 1905, and has made her home in Hawkins since 1942; a valued member of her community, she has devoted much time and energy to civic involvement benefiting the Order of the Eastern Star, Hawkins Study Club, Hawkins Sewing Circle, and First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than six decades; she is a notable artist and past member of the Monday Morning Painters, and many of her more than 100 oil paintings are now hanging in the homes of her loved ones; and WHEREAS, The heart of a cherished family, Mrs. McQuaid has twin sons, three stepchildren, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; she remains active, reading the newspaper every day and solving the crossword puzzle, the word jumble, and the cryptogram, and she is truly a role model who deserves special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Winona "Pal" McQuaid on the occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued good fortune; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. McQuaid as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
