R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The students, staff, and faculty of Alvis C. Story Elementary School in Allen have given generously in support of the Liebo Family Foundation; and WHEREAS, This laudable effort was initiated by nine-year-old Zoe Albert, who first approached principal George Junco about her idea to help the Liebo family; with his permission, the tenacious fourth-grader used her Thanksgiving break to collect two-quart jars, which she decorated and placed in each of the school's classrooms; and WHEREAS, Soon students at Story Elementary were filling the jars with all of the change they could muster, and by the end of three weeks, they had raised more than $2,500; and WHEREAS, These donations were matched by an anonymous donor, bringing the total to over $5,000, and, thanks to the entreaty of Zoe's mother, Nancy Albert, CompUSA contributed much-needed electronic equipment to the Liebo family; and WHEREAS, Plano residents Jim and Tina Liebo are the parents of three children, Eric, Zak, and Lexi; in recent years, the family has faced a host of physical, emotional, and financial hardships, but the outpouring of support they have received from compassionate members of the community may help to lessen the burden; and WHEREAS, The contributions made by the young people of Story Elementary have encouraged and uplifted a family in need, and their actions have set an example of kindness to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the students, staff, and faculty of Alvis C. Story Elementary School in Allen for their efforts in behalf of the Liebo family and honor these fine Texans for their generosity in such a worthy cause; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
