R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family members and friends celebrate the life of Maria N. Quintanilla, mother of our esteemed colleague, the Honorable Chente Quintanilla; and WHEREAS, Ms. Quintanilla passed away on August 14, 2004, and the memory of her generous spirit lives in the hearts of all those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Born on October 7, 1923, in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, she moved to Tornillo, Texas, with her beloved husband, the late Tomas Quintanilla, and together they had 18 children; and WHEREAS, This kind-hearted soul was an active member of Saint Rita Catholic Church and provided spiritual inspiration and unconditional love to countless people in her life; and WHEREAS, A cherished matriarch, Maria Quintanilla is dearly missed by all those who were privileged to love her and by those who were touched by her dedication to others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Maria N. Quintanilla and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons, State Representative Inocente "Chente" Quintanilla and his wife, Graciela, Felipe and his wife, Cecilia, Tomas and his wife, Rosa, and Martin and his wife, Terri; to her daughters, Delia Bochmeyer, Elvia Orona and her husband, Roberto, Alejandra Rodriguez and her husband, George, Otilia Portillo and her husband, Lorenzo, Herlinda Sandoval and her husband, Roberto, Maria Saldana and her husband, Aurelio, Thelma Trevizo and her husband, Felipe, Elizabeth Melendez and her husband, Heriberto; to her brother, Jesus Narez; to her 33 grandchildren; to her 28 great-grandchildren; to her great-great-grandchild; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria N.
