H.R. No. 1546


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ray Lawson has most deservedly been named Marshall's 2004 Outstanding Citizen by the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce, and he indeed merits special commendation; and WHEREAS, Highly regarded in the business community, from which he has twice retired and to which he has twice returned, Mr. Lawson currently leads Harrison County Glass, today owned by the sons of his late partner of many years; and WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, this esteemed gentleman has shown exemplary civic leadership as president of the local Optimist and Rotary clubs, as a willing officeholder with his church, and as campaign manager for a successful congressional candidate; he holds lifetime membership with Optimist International, was named a Paul Harris Fellow, and has served his community as a school trustee and as a member of various boards, including the Marshall Chamber of Commerce board of directors, of which he is chairman-elect; and WHEREAS, Devoted to his family as well, Mr. Lawson and his beloved wife, Mona, take great pride in their son, David, and his Russian-born wife, Tatiana, whom they have welcomed to the Lone Star State with genuine Texas hospitality; and WHEREAS, Ray Lawson continually exemplifies the best in human nature as he works in behalf of his family, church, profession, and community, and it is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Ray Lawson on being named Marshall's 2004 Outstanding Citizen and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lawson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
