R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A century of notable accomplishments, treasured
memories, and happy times with family and dear friends are truly
worth celebrating, and on May 13, 2005, Marie Marshall of Wichita
Falls is commemorating this momentous occasion in her life; and
WHEREAS, The fourth oldest child of nine siblings in her
close-knit family, she was born on May 13, 1905, in the Clay County
community of Bluegrove in North Central Texas; she attended school
in Henrietta and worked in the fields with her father while she was
growing up, learning at an early age the value and satisfaction of a
day's work; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Marshall successfully passed certification as
a dressmaker and embarked on a demanding career as a tailor, from
which she is now retired; and
WHEREAS, Married at the age of 20, this lovely lady and her
husband were richly blessed with four children; today, she is the
matriarch of a treasured family that has grown to include 11
grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and five
great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, This red-letter birthday presents a fitting
opportunity to honor an exceptional woman who has shared so much
with others through her unwavering dedication to her family and
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Marie Marshall on the joyous
occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
