R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Atma Kabad of Houston has ably served his fellow Texans during the 79th Legislative Session as an intern in the office of State Representative Kevin Bailey; and WHEREAS, A student at The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Kabad is a motivated individual, who has maintained a perfect grade point average during his freshman year; he plans to major in business and government, and supplements his school work with various volunteer activities, such as acting as a mentor for high school students with Project ARISE and teaching elementary students to read through the HOSTS program; and WHEREAS, This accomplished young man is a gifted musician and first learned to play the violin when he was four years old; he has extensive orchestral experience, and has played in numerous settings, including the International String Conference in Austria, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Midwest Clinic in Chicago; he is also a talented tennis player and has competed in some of the top tournaments in the country; during the summer of 2005, he will participate in the International Youth Leadership Conference in Prague; and WHEREAS, Through his work as an intern, Mr. Kabad has had the opportunity to contribute to the workings of state government firsthand while enhancing his knowledge of the legislative process; he has gained valuable work experience and performed his duties with skill and dedication, and his efforts in behalf of his fellow citizens are most appreciated; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Atma Kabad for his service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Kevin Bailey and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and achievement in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Kabad as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
