H.R. No. 1559


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Victor A. Hernandez of Boy Scouts of America Troop 707 in Fort Worth has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor, bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Hernandez earned the requisite 21 merit badges, including those requiring expertise in such diverse areas as animal science, sculpture, and wilderness survival; moreover, he successfully completed an Eagle Scout project that involved coordinating with the Fort Worth Police Department Crime Prevention Unit in the I-dent-a-kid Program; serving 50 families at a Fort Worth Parks community center, Mr. Hernandez led 10 fellow scouts to fill out information sheets, fingerprint and photograph each child, and laminate identification cards for the participants; and WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career; he has served his fellow scouts in the positions of senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, troop scribe, patrol leader, and assistant patrol leader, winning their respect and admiration as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting offers; and WHEREAS, The dedication to excellence and perseverance in the pursuit of his goals demonstrated by Eagle Scout Hernandez have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and it is most appropriate that he be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Victor A. Hernandez on becoming an Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
