R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Stephen Taylor Roe of Boy Scouts of America Troop
393 in Arlington attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, and
his accomplishments were duly recognized at an Eagle Scout Court of
Honor ceremony held on Apri1 16, 2005, at Good Shepherd United
Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Roe joined Cub Scouts in 1994 and later moved on
to Boy Scout Troop 394 and Troop 393, and he has served his fellow
scouts in many offices, including his current post of senior patrol
leader; a member of the Order of the Arrow, Eagle Scout Roe visited
the Philmont Scout Ranch last year; and
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a rare honor, one
bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting
movement, and by fulfilling the rank's demanding criteria, Stephen
Roe has achieved a remarkable feat; in the course of meeting the
requirements of Eagle Scout status, Mr. Roe earned 21 merit badges
and created a prayer garden at his church home, Mayfield Road
Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, The son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight E. Roe, who take great
pride in all his achievements, this exemplary young Texan has been
home-schooled since seventh grade and graduated on his 18th
birthday; he is employed with the Plant Shed in Mansfield and is
considering choosing a career in the military; and
WHEREAS, The dedication to excellence and perseverance Eagle
Scout Roe has demonstrated in the pursuit of his goals have proven
him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and it is most
appropriate that he be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Stephen Taylor Roe on attaining the
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him best wishes for the future;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Roe as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
