H.R. No. 1563


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Casey Johnson of Houston has completed the rigorous requirements necessary for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, while learning important lessons that will serve him well throughout his life; and WHEREAS, In the course of achieving the Eagle Scout insignia, Mr. Johnson earned numerous merit badges in many diverse subjects, and he also completed an Eagle Scout project of lasting benefit to the community; beautifying the grounds of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and School, he collected donations for a new flagpole and oversaw its installation, added flagstone and cement pathways at the site, and enhanced the area with shrubbery; and WHEREAS, A member of the Order of the Arrow, Eagle Scout Johnson has served his fellow scouts in several leadership roles, including historian, patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and troop guide; this exemplary young man serves the wider community as well, volunteering for numerous church and civic activities, including SHINE Catholic Work Camp, St. Vincent de Paul, Star of Hope Mission, Martha's Kitchen, and Fishes and Loaves; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson attends St. Thomas High School, where he is a member of the orchestra, band, Respect Life, Latin and Chess Clubs, the Eagle Ambassadors, and more; an AP scholar, he has earned highest honors on the National Latin Exam, and his dedication to excellence has earned him a full scholarship to attend the University of St. Thomas; and WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Richard and Anita Johnson, Eagle Scout Johnson has demonstrated a deep commitment to scouting, to his family, and to his community, and it is truly a pleasure to honor him on his achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby heartily congratulate Casey Johnson on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for a successful future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
