R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Dovie Jane Knowles of
Uvalde were greatly saddened by her passing on October 11, 2003, at
the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, A native of Uvalde, she worked at the First State
Bank of Uvalde as a young woman and married Pete Knowles on February
7, 1942; together, their union would span more than six decades and
be blessed with two sons, Howard and Bryson, as well as five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Cherished times spent in the company of Dovie
Knowles continue to comfort those who shared her love and
affection, and her memory will forever light their hearts; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dovie Jane Knowles of
Uvalde and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to
her husband, Pete Knowles; to her sons, Howard Knowles and Bryson
Knowles and his wife, Susan; to her grandchildren, Vance Knowles,
Jeff Knowles, Carter Knowles, Reagan Knowles, and Stewart Knowles;
to her great-grandchildren, Lawson Merritt Knowles and Emma
Caroline Knowles; to her sisters, Bonnie Ruth Aycock, Geneva Sue
Beavers, and Martha Beavers; and to her other relatives and
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dovie
Jane Knowles.
