R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Gilberto Vargas, Sr., of Clint, on March 7, 2005, at the age of 82, has brought a tremendous loss to his family and many friends; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in San Elizario, Mr. Vargas attended Ysleta High School and served with distinction in the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II; he was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart for his meritorious service; and WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, he shared more than half a century with his beloved wife, Fidencia, and was blessed with three children and three grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Beti Vargas will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of Gilberto Vargas, Sr., and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Fidencia P. Vargas; to his children, Helen Rojas, Elvira Agan and her husband, Jerry, and Gilberto Vargas, Jr., and his wife, Olga; to his grandchildren, Christopher and Cassandra Rojas and Sarah Agan; to his sisters, Lydia Martinez, Lusia Rodriguez, and Josefina Martinez; to his brother, Rafael Vargas; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gilberto Vargas, Sr.
