R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Drew and Brenda Daugherty of Coldspring have
contributed countless hours of service to the Coldspring Volunteer
Fire Department, and their selfless work has helped to safeguard
the lives and property of their friends and neighbors throughout
this close-knit community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty joined the department in July
2002 with no previous experience or training in fire service; since
then, they have logged more than 3,000 volunteer hours between them
and developed integral relationships with local government
agencies, civic groups, and emergency responders; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, the couple assisted with the reclamation
and construction of the department's fire station on Hill Avenue;
they also initiated a recordkeeping system for tracking
information, pursued grant programs for the department, and
developed a hands-on fire extinguisher training program available
to local businesses and organizations free of charge; and
WHEREAS, The safety and well-being of all Texans depend on
individuals like Drew and Brenda Daugherty, who have earned the
respect and admiration of their neighbors for their dedication and
commitment to the community of Coldspring; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Drew and Brenda Daugherty for their
exceptional work with the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department and
extend to them sincere best wishes for continued fulfillment with
their important volunteer work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
