R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Ghostriders, riders who perform at rodeos, competitions, parades, and other special events, have earned numerous accolades for their exceptional performances in drill team competitions, and their achievements truly merit recognition; and WHEREAS, Formed on August 4, 2001, in an effort to keep the Old West alive and inspire young people, the group includes the Rodeo Team, the Youth Team, and the Texans; participants have come together to share in the love of riding and to enjoy the fellowship of other riders; they are partnered with a number of individuals and other organizations, including the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame, Choctaw Indian Nation, Chickasaw Indian Nation, Cherokee Indian Nation, and Pawnee Indian Nation; and WHEREAS, The Adult Team may count among its accomplishments being named the 2002 Texas Open Drill Team, 2002 and 2003 Texas Equestrian Drill Team Competition Champions, 2003 Reserve Novice USEDC, 2004 Reserve Rodeo USEDC, 2004 National Champion Color Guard, and 2004 State Champion Color Guard; members include Pam Bonner, Stacy Chique, Kelly Jayroe, Elke McReynolds, Dani Clevenger, Kim Whitton, Loretta Baker, Toy Heitman, Suzanne Lindley, Marcie Wood, Ivy Steele, Anita Stroud, Jena Warnell, Janet Bass, and Deb Willis; and WHEREAS, Also tremendously successful in competitions, the Youth Team members are the 2002 Texas Open Drill Team Competition Youth Novice Champions, 2003 Texas Equestrian Expo Drill Team Competition Youth Novice Champions, 2003 USEDC National Champions, 2004 State Champion Color Guard, and 2004 National Champion Color Guard; members are Beth McEnturff, Kasey McEnturff, Katy Twitty, Holly Sims, Maci Jayroe, Shelle Higgins, Karly Lindley, Katie Lindley, Stephanie Decker, Shaila Bryan, Brianna Yates, Deana Evans, Morgan Wood, Winter Crowell, Sara Bass, and Daisha Marsh; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating the dedication and commitment to excellence of true champions, these outstanding riders and performers are a credit to the great tradition of the Old West that is such an integral part of the heritage of all Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Ghostriders on their impressive achievements in horse-riding drill team competition and extend to the members best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Ghostriders as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
