R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Through their heroism, nine-year-old Brandon Denson and five-year-old Cassie Denson of San Antonio helped to avert a terrible tragedy and saved the life of their father; and WHEREAS, On April 23, 2005, Tony Denson was performing a routine brake repair and oil change on his car when he accidentally knocked over the jack supporting the elevated automobile; suddenly trapped beneath the heavy vehicle, he called to his son for help; and WHEREAS, After attempting to lift the car himself, young Brandon cried out for help, gaining the attention of Lupe Preston, the Densons' neighbor; Ms. Preston instructed Brandon and his sister Cassie to seek help while she called 9-1-1; the children quickly enlisted the assistance of several neighbors who were able to lift the car long enough for Mr. Denson to escape; and WHEREAS, In recognition of their swift response to a crisis, the Denson children were honored by their respective scouting troops; Brandon, a member of Webelos Pack No. 333, received the Boy Scout Heroism Award, and Cassie, a Girl Scout Daisy and member of Troop No. 3330, was awarded the Girl Scout Medal of Honor; and WHEREAS, Displaying fortitude that belies their years, Brandon and Cassie Denson, along with the help of their neighbors, were able to save their father and provide a happy outcome to this critical situation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Brandon and Cassie Denson for their lifesaving actions and extend to these admirable young Texans sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Densons as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
