R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Plano West High School boys' hockey team has won 
the 2005 Texas Cup state high school hockey tournament, defeating 
Highland Park High School in overtime by a score of 1-0 to claim the 
coveted crown; and
	WHEREAS, Led by Coach Cosmo Clarke, the Wolves posted an 
impressive 21-8-3 record and were relentless in their pursuit of 
the championship title, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and 
hockey fundamentals throughout the season; and
	WHEREAS, The championship game was a defensive battle that 
featured outstanding play by the goalkeepers on both ends of the 
ice; shot after shot was rejected during the first three periods, 
sending the game into sudden-death overtime; and
	WHEREAS, Senior Jeff Lewin scored the deciding goal on an 
assist by Mark Adams, causing the team's fans to erupt in an 
enthusiastic display of team spirit; goalkeeper Ryan Merkow 
contributed to the team's triumph with 16 stops in the net; and
	WHEREAS, With this outstanding win, the Wolves have 
established themselves as the state's top high school hockey team, 
and this well-deserved victory is a tribute to the hard work and 
dedication put forth by each member of the team; now, therefore, be 
it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Cosmo Clarke and the Plano 
West High School Wolves for winning the 2005 Texas Cup and extend 
best wishes to the many individuals who contributed to this 
memorable victory; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
