H.R. No. 1599



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Erin Yu is the only North Texas student and only one 
of seven in the state to have made a perfect score on the newly 
expanded SAT college entrance exam; and
	WHEREAS, A junior at Plano Senior High School, Ms. Yu is among 
an elite 107 students nationwide to achieve this remarkable score; 
she is in advanced placement classes and participated in study 
programs at a college preparatory company where she is a part-time 
employee; and
	WHEREAS, No stranger to academic perfection, the 17-year-old 
also earned a perfect score on the old SAT in 2003; with a grade 
point average of 4.3, she is ranked first out of 1,245 students, 
plays the flute in the marching band, is a member of the National 
Honor Society, and volunteers her time with disabled children; and
	WHEREAS, The daughter of Hua Ping Yu and Jianwei Yang, who 
take much pride in her accomplishments, this outstanding young 
woman is an inspiring role model for her 11-year-old brother, Joe, 
and for all Texans; she is considering studying humanities, 
business, or law when she attends college; and
	WHEREAS, Erin Yu has demonstrated exemplary maturity and 
determination in her pursuit of her goals, and she is most deserving 
of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Erin Yu on earning a perfect score 
on the SAT and extend to her sincere best wishes for success and 
fulfillment in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Yu as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
