R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Betty Jo Harvey of Wichita Falls has been presented 
a MetLife Foundation Older Volunteers Enrich America Award by the 
National Association of Area Agencies on Aging for her dedication 
to the North Central Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross and the 
Red Cross National Headquarters; and
	WHEREAS, Nominated by Deanna Booker, director of the Retired 
and Senior Volunteer Program of North Texas, Mrs. Harvey is one of 
only 26 individuals to receive the award from a field of 200 
national nominees; and
	WHEREAS, A registered nurse and Red Cross volunteer for 32 
years, this esteemed Texan has long been a role model of civic 
service for her loved ones; when her daughters were Campfire Girls, 
she encouraged them to give of their time and energy, and led by 
example by teaching a baby-sitting class; and
	WHEREAS, Today, she teaches a Red Cross weather awareness 
module titled Weather or Not to more than 3,000 first-grade 
students in 16 area counties; she participates with the Disaster 
Service Human Resources team and was among those responding to the 
1995 Oklahoma City domestic terrorism bombing; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Harvey enjoys the love and affection of her 
five children, 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as 
well as of her husband of 51 years, Charles, who volunteers as a 
logistics coordinator for the American Red Cross; and
	WHEREAS, Through her profession of nursing and her commitment 
to volunteering, Betty Jo Harvey has truly been a blessing in the 
lives of countless people, and she is most deserving of special 
recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Betty Jo Harvey on her receipt of a 
MetLife Foundation Older Volunteers Enrich America Award and extend 
to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Harvey as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
