R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may temper the profound sadness that the passing of Tenie Mulvey Braniff of Houston on April 20, 2005, brings to all who knew and loved her; and WHEREAS, Born on July 5, 1916, Mrs. Braniff graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1934, and her religious education had a lasting and profound impact on her; a tireless volunteer, she earned numerous accolades for her charitable works, including the Pro Ecclesia ET Pontificae Medal from Pope John Paul II, which is the highest honor possible for a layperson in the Catholic Church; in addition, she held the honor of Lady Grand Cross in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and received the Silver Palm of Jerusalem as well as the Distinguished Emeritus Award for her service to the Charity Guild of Catholic Women of Houston; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Braniff made myriad significant contributions to her community as an active member of the Theresians/5th Dimension, Charity Guild of Catholic Women, St. Joseph Hospital Guild, St. Agnes Academy Alumni Association, St. Thomas High School Tom's Moms, St. Thomas University Chapel Guild, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas; and WHEREAS, The former Tenie Mulvey married James Joseph Braniff, Jr., in 1938, and they shared 44 years of happy times and cherished family moments before his passing in 1982; and WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, her memory will be forever cherished by those who were blessed to share in the warmth of her love; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Tenie Mulvey Braniff and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Danny Braniff, James J. Braniff III and his wife, Marsha, John R. Braniff and his wife, Martha, Tenie R. Braniff, Thomas M. Braniff and his wife, Wendall, and Sister Ginny Braniff; to her grandchildren, David McDavid, Jr., and his wife, Kim, James J. McDavid and his wife, Kim, Beth Braniff Harp and her husband, Mike, G. Micheal Thompson, Jr., and his wife, Libbe, John R. Braniff, Jr., and his wife, Melissa, Sheri Anne Dyer and her husband, Steve, James J. Braniff IV and his wife, Shannon, Farrah Braniff Charnquist and her husband, Steven, Claude G. Rives V and his wife, Reagan, Blakely N. Braniff and her husband, Chris Koutouzakis, T. Rhett Braniff, and Christopher G. Rives and his wife, Brooke; to her great-grandchildren; to her sister, Eleanor Mulvey Robb; to her sister-in-law, Margie B. Mulvey; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tenie Mulvey Braniff.
