H.R. No. 1625


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the passing of James Ray Palmer on November 25, 2004, bringing great sadness to his friends and family; and WHEREAS, Born to B. M. and Ruth Chilton Palmer on May 9, 1934, Mr. Palmer was the beloved husband of Willa Mae Palmer, his high school sweetheart with whom he enjoyed 50 years of marriage; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan graduated from the game warden training academy and worked in Rockport as a game warden pilot; he later moved to Austin to serve with the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and retired as director of the transportation division; and WHEREAS, An avid angler and outdoors enthusiast, Mr. Palmer found great joy in living on Lake Buchanan and spending time with his family and friends; although he is deeply missed, he will long be remembered for his strength of character, kindness, and generosity; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of James Ray Palmer and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Willa Mae Palmer; to his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sissy Palmer; to his daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Tookie Berry; to his grandchildren, Ryan Bebee, Josh Berry, Cole Bebee, Amanda Palmer, and Ashleigh Berry; to his foster daughter, Linda McCasland; to his brother, David Palmer; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James Ray Palmer.
