R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Two Chilton High School students, David Fernandez
and Latisha Renay Ford, have been selected to the 2005 UIL State
One-Act Play (OAP) Honor Crew for their academic and production
excellence in their school's theater arts program; and
WHEREAS, Initiated in 1977, the OAP Honor Crew invites
theater arts students to serve on the state's one-act play contest
production staff; the program is open to sophomores and juniors who
have been nominated by their school principal or superintendent,
and it accepts a maximum of 40 students from schools across the Lone
Star State; Ms. Ford and Mr. Fernandez are the first students from
Chilton to receive this prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, The son of Josefina and Fernando Fernandez, David
Fernandez has attended school in Chilton since kindergarten; he is
an active member of his community, and has been involved with
theater arts since eighth grade; this hardworking young man has
served as stage manager for six productions and assistant director
for two productions, and he has received numerous awards for his
exemplary work, including "best techie"; and
WHEREAS, Renay Ford, the daughter of Vari Nay Ford, is also a
junior at Chilton High; a quiet, determined leader, she is one of
the top students in her class, and has received numerous honors for
her athletic performance in volleyball, basketball, and track; she
has been an integral part of the development of the Chilton ISD
theater program and has served as a sound tech for several
productions; and
WHEREAS, An appreciation of the arts in the State of Texas
begins in the schools, where students like David Fernandez and
Renay Ford can nurture their interests and truly shine in a creative
environment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate David Fernandez and Latisha Renay
Ford on being selected as members of the 2005 UIL State One-Act Play
Honor Crew and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
success and achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Mr. Fernandez and Ms. Ford as expressions of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
