R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, June 2005 marks the retirement of Carol Ray, drawing
to a close a notable 33-year career in education and an outstanding
five-year tenure as superintendent of the Lovejoy Independent
School District; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ray earned her bachelor's and master's degrees
from West Texas State University and completed additional graduate
work at Texas A&M University--Commerce; her professional
background includes working as an elementary and secondary teacher,
a counselor, a diagnostician, a director of special programs, and
an assistant superintendent; and
WHEREAS, Active in myriad professional organizations, she
has held memberships in the Texas Association of School
Administrators, School Personnel Administrators, Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Texas Council for
Exceptional Children, and the Learning Disabilities Association of
America; and
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and
support of her husband Bob, son Stanton, daughter-in-law Irina, and
grandson Sasha; retirement will undoubtedly afford her the
opportunity to spend more time with her family as well as to indulge
in her favorite leisure activities, including reading, boating,
scuba diving, and taking nature walks; and
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Mrs. Ray has served
with integrity and dedication in the field of education; she has
earned the lasting respect of colleagues and students alike, and it
is a pleasure to recognize her for her exemplary career as she
embarks on this new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Carol Ray on her retirement from
the Lovejoy Independent School District and extend to her best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Ray as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
