R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Highland Park High School girls swimming team
made a big splash in Texas high school sports by winning its fifth
straight Class 4A state championship, tying a state record and
adding to the school's reputation as a true powerhouse in the sport;
and
WHEREAS, After battling through a tough championship meet,
the Scots finished with 227 points to outlast rival Klein Oak; this
outstanding achievement was the result of a total commitment to
excellence by team members Brittany Sacco, Leslie Clampitt,
Meredith Higgins, Alexandra Jennings, Jessica Shaw, and Alex Weber;
and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Chris Girard, ably assisted by Kathleen
Rayborn, schooled these talented athletes in the finer points of
good swimming technique, while instilling in them the values of
dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is a tremendous
achievement, and the memory of this significant accomplishment will
remain with the team members for years to come; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the coaches and members of the
Highland Park High School girls swimming team on winning their
fifth straight Class 4A state championship and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
