R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, U.S. Army Sergeant Nieves Rodriguez, Jr., has returned stateside after sustaining injuries in Iraq, and this brave and dedicated soldier is most deserving of our highest praise for risking his life in service to his country; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Rodriguez, a native of Beeville, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1991 upon his graduation from high school; after completing his four years in the marines, he enlisted in the army; and WHEREAS, Now recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Sergeant Rodriguez may take comfort from the love and pride of his parents, Anita and Nieves Rodriguez, Sr., his wife, Dionely, and his daughters, Victoria and Isabelle; and WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to Sergeant Rodriguez and to all of the country's military personnel, for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure; and WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and this nation, Nieves Rodriguez, Jr., embodies the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to join in welcoming him home; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend U.S. Army Sergeant Nieves Rodriguez, Jr., for his service in Iraq and extend to him best wishes for a swift and complete recovery from his injuries; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
