H.R. No. 1735



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Alumni Association of Austin High School in El 
Paso has named Chris Forbes as the 2004-2005 Outstanding Ex 
Student; and
	WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1975, Coach Forbes played 
both football and baseball at Austin High, and he belonged to the 
Letterman's Club; after high school, he graduated from The 
University of Texas at El Paso; and
	WHEREAS, He is currently the head baseball coach at Socorro 
High School; during his tenure, he has accumulated an impressive 
list of career highlights that includes 12 district championships, 
13 bi-district championships, five area championships, and one 
regional semifinal championship; in reaching this level of success 
on the baseball diamond, he has played a positive role in the lives 
of hundreds of young athletes, in whom he has instilled the values 
of hard work and good sportsmanship; and
	WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous deserved recognitions, 
Coach Forbes was inducted into the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame and 
El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame and was named El Paso Times Coach of 
the Year four times and El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Coach of the 
Year five times; moreover, he has been presented with the 
Superintendent's Coin of Excellence, the Socorro ISD's highest 
honor, and, on April 26, 2005, the Socorro High School baseball 
field was dedicated as the Chris Forbes Field in recognition of his 
achievements and contributions to the school; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed high school coach and Austin High 
School alumnus is truly dedicated to his players, and it is most 
appropriate to take this opportunity to recognize him; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Forbes on being named the 
2004-2005 Outstanding Ex Student by the Austin High School Alumni 
Association and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued 
success and happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Coach Forbes as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
