H.R. No. 1740
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Steve Ahlenius has ably served as president and
chief executive officer of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce since
1998, and his dedication to the city he is proud to call home is
indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Wayland Baptist University and of
Texas Tech University, where he earned his master's degree in
public administration, Mr. Ahlenius has been a tireless advocate
for the McAllen community, promoting area events, championing local
businesses and organizations, and setting an outstanding example of
leadership to which all may aspire; and
WHEREAS, During his exemplary tenure, the McAllen Chamber of
Commerce has experienced a remarkable 64 percent growth in
membership, and in 2001, the organization was selected as the
National Chamber of the Year by the National Association of
Membership Development; and
WHEREAS, Steve Ahlenius has made the community of McAllen a
better place in which to live, work, and raise a family, and his
contributions will surely benefit area residents for years to come;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Steve Ahlenius on his achievements
as president and chief executive officer of the McAllen Chamber of
Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ahlenius as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
