H.R. No. 1744


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cynthia M. Sakulenzki has demonstrated impressive leadership and exceptional ability as president and CEO of the McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Since accepting her position in February 2000, Ms. Sakulenzki has taken responsibility for planning, developing, and implementing the chamber's business plan in an effort to achieve the chamber's goals; she plays an active role in supervising and managing committees, both directly and indirectly, and is involved in implementing the chamber's policy on governmental relations and issues; and WHEREAS, The McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has received numerous significant awards and accolades during Ms. Sakulenzki's distinguished tenure, including recognition as the Small Chamber of the Year by the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce in 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004; the chamber was also honored as the National Small Chamber of the Year in 2000 by the United States Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Ms. Sakulenzki, a 1974 graduate of The University of Texas-Pan American, is the recipient of the 2004 National Political Empowerment Award from the United States Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and has been recognized by the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce as one of the Top 10 Hispanic Women in Texas in 2000; she has successfully contributed to numerous volunteer and civic organizations, while also building an impressive resume as a highly regarded business leader; and WHEREAS, With her drive, determination, and considerable business acumen, Cynthia Sakulenzki has excelled as the president and CEO of the McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; her personal and professional achievements, as well as those of the chamber, are a tribute to her hard work and dedication, and she is most deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Cynthia Sakulenzki for her outstanding tenure as president and CEO of the McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and extend best wishes to her for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Sakulenzki as an expression of highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
