R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Leondas Rambo, a longtime educator with the Fort Worth Independent School District, has devoted many years of his life to teaching and coaching the district's students and student-athletes, and his contributions toward improving the lives of these young people are most worthy of special recognition; and WHEREAS, A native of Marshall, Mr. Rambo is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Wylie College, where he played basketball; his diverse teaching career has included eight years of service at the elementary level, teaching art and fifth-grade reading and spelling, and several years as a physical education instructor at Dunbar Middle School; and WHEREAS, In 1971, this dedicated teacher joined the staff of Dunbar High School, where he taught physical education and coached track, football, and volleyball; he was invited to become a member of the basketball coaching staff in 1973 by the legendary Robert Hughes, his friend and colleague of many years, and during his tenure as an assistant coach on the staff, the Wildcats earned 13 berths for state honors and captured two state championships; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rambo was honored in 2003 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as the Class 4A Assistant Coach of the Year, a fitting tribute to this remarkable educator and his many achievements; and WHEREAS, Throughout his outstanding career, Leondas Rambo has demonstrated the passion and dedication necessary to excel in the demanding and challenging field of education; his commitment to the young people placed in his care has earned him the respect and admiration of parents and peers, and he remains an inspiration to the many individuals who have been fortunate enough to work by his side; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Leondas Rambo for his exceptional career as an educator and coach, and extend best wishes to him for continued happiness and success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Rambo as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
