H.R. No. 1752


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Casey Zager of Longview has ably represented his country and the State of Texas as a participant in the international exchange program Beyond Borders: Arabs and Americans in the 21st Century; and WHEREAS, A ninth-grade student at Longview High School, Mr. Zager traveled to Jordan in April 2005 and visited King Abdullah and other dignitaries; the weeklong trip was the second part of the program, which began last August in Maine, where 65 teenagers from the United States, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, and Yemen gathered to bridge the global divide between the United States and Arab countries; and WHEREAS, Mr. Zager was selected based on his leadership potential and his previous involvement with a Dallas-to-Baghdad outreach program through which he partnered with Judson Middle School to collect more than 1,000 books and supplies to be shipped to Iraq; and WHEREAS, An exceptional student and impressive role model, Casey Zager is committed to promoting cultural understanding among his peers, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Casey Zager for his participation in Beyond Borders and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Zager as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
