R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Deloris Rosaya Washington is retiring after more
than three decades of public service with the U.S. Social Security
Administration, and this memorable event provides an ideal
opportunity to recognize her for her noteworthy career and her many
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, A native of Louisiana, Mrs. Washington graduated
with honors from Bishop College before receiving her master's
degree in guidance and counseling from Texas Woman's University;
and
WHEREAS, She has served the Social Security Administration in
a number of positions over the years, including contact
representative, claims representative, and training instructor for
a five-state region; and
WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community, she has
given freely of her time and energy to many worthwhile causes,
serving as a vice president of the PTA, as a director of the
Mooreland Branch YMCA and the Dallas County Women's Council, and as
a charter board member of the Women's Museum at Fair Park; and
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she draws strength and
inspiration from her church, where her presence is a welcome one,
and from her family, including her husband, Horace Washington, and
her daughters, Kim and Yolanda Washington; and
WHEREAS, Although her colleagues are saddened by her moving
on, Mrs. Washington's high standards and dedication to her
profession will live on in the work of the many people she
influenced, and we wish her well as she embarks on a new and
exciting chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Deloris Rosaya Washington on the occasion
of her retirement from the U.S. Social Security Administration and
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Washington as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
