H.R. No. 1772


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of meaningful accomplishments and joyful moments may comfort the family and friends of Gunther H. Moller, who passed away on May 2, 2005, at the age of 80; and WHEREAS, Professor emeritus of Sul Ross State University, Dr. Moller received his doctoral degree in mathematics from the University of Hamburg in Germany in 1955; his family emigrated to the United States in 1957, and he held teaching positions at Kalamazoo College and Texas Lutheran College before joining the faculty of SRSU in 1962; and WHEREAS, This esteemed scholar was a past member of the Mathematical Association of America, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and the Southwest Regional Conference for Astronomy and Astrophysics; after his retirement from the university in 1991, he continued to publish articles in various astrophysics journals; and WHEREAS, A self-proclaimed "native" Texan, Dr. Moller loved the Big Bend region of his adopted state, and he will be remembered by those who knew him as a challenging professor and a loving husband and father; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gunther H. Moller and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Waltraut Erika "Trudy" Moller; to his sons, Jerry Moeller and Gordon Moller; to his three grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gunther H.
