H.R. No. 1775


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sarah Jean Durkee is celebrating a significant milestone in her life on May 27, 2005, as she graduates from Westlake High School; and WHEREAS, Ms. Durkee has shown initiative, leadership, and a determination to succeed during her high school career; selected as 2004-2005 student body president, she has participated in numerous district, state, and national student council conventions during the past four years; and WHEREAS, A talented athlete as well as a popular student, she was a member of the varsity softball team for three years, captained the squad this year, and represented her school on the South Team in the Central Texas All Star Softball Game; she was chosen to be a Homecoming Princess and voted Most Likely to be a Westlake Mom by her peers; and WHEREAS, Ms. Durkee's commitment to her community and her faith has been shown through various volunteer efforts and involvement with her church's youth group, for she served as a counselor for junior high students and as a missionary on several mission trips; and WHEREAS, Majoring in business, marketing, and public relations at Texas Christian University is among the immediate plans for this daughter of Robert and Jill Durkee, who was named a member of the Chancellor's Leadership Program for the next four years; and WHEREAS, Ms. Durkee has attained her graduation through dedication to her goals and discipline in her schoolwork, and it is truly a pleasure to join her loved ones in honoring her at this special time in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Sarah Jean Durkee on her graduation from Westlake High School and extend to her sincere best wishes for good fortune and happiness in the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Durkee as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
