R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on August 10, 2004, Edward and Wanda Parker of Fort Worth observed this momentous occasion in their life together; and WHEREAS, The couple were high school sweethearts, though they attended different schools; a favorite among her classmates, the prospective Mrs. Parker had a lovely singing voice and was a majorette; and WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony on August 10, 1954, in a ceremony held in Lewisville, the newlyweds were soon separated when Mr. Parker had to report to boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia; he earned a sharpshooting medal and attained the rank of sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1957; the couple then moved to Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, Fifty years of marriage have produced many wonderful memories, including those of great trips; the Parkers previously belonged to a camping club named The Roadrunners and enjoyed traveling in caravans with family and friends; and WHEREAS, The heart of a cherished family, Mr. and Mrs. Parker enjoy the love and affection of two children, Keith Parker and Debbie Faust, three granddaughters, Sunny, Alex, and Abby, and two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Hannah; and WHEREAS, For half a century, Edward and Wanda Parker have nurtured a union built on a foundation of mutual love, respect, and admiration, and it is a distinct pleasure to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Wanda Parker on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parker as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
